Not Practicing Bowling Competition

February 20, 2010

In the last ball of the tenth frame, when the game is on the line, that’s when true competitors shine. But how do you practice for those stressful, clutch moments?

One suggestion is to find someone who is at a similar skill level as yourself to play against. A friendly wager of paying for lunch, the games, or simply the “bragging rights” of winning can be just enough pressure to help prepare for those potentially tense moments in competition. If you can’t find someone to play against, you could try to create different scenarios in each frame. In this case you would try not to strike with the first ball so you would be able to work on different spare combinations. The key to bowling successfully is not only working on your physical game but to also keep your mental game sharp.
